On Refrigerators and Other Bureaucracies
Arguing with the BOP is like arguing with a refrigerator. The logic or emotional validity of your argument is irrelevant because you're arguing with a refrigerator. It's inhuman, imposing, cold, has many mysterious parts, and it lacks a soul.
My guess is this can be applied to any US government behemoth bureaucracy. When I went to the GlobalPDX conference and heard NGO employees discuss their experiences dealing with USAID, I was alarmed at how similar it sounded to dealing with the BOP.
The more humans comprise an organization, the less human it behaves. How paradoxical.
